We’ve seen a few fold up watercraft this year, including the Origami Paddler – which we posted about in May – and now the Oru is ready to hit the water. As with the Origami Paddler this new Origami Kayak can fold up small enough to be carried by a single person.
The Oru was created by San Francisco designer Anton Willis, and it can reportedly go from the size of an artist’s portfolio into a 12-foot, 25-pound water-tight vessel in less than five minutes. It is constructed of corrugated plastic with structural reinforcements and is reportedly sea-worthy in mild waters. It will be available soon for around $500.
