Serious skateboarders are always looking for new challenges, and the DTV Shredder might just be the next big thing in skating. A similar approach came from Bryson Lovett’s Vertrax Electric Skateboard that we wrote about last month, but the DTV Shredder would likely leave that one in the dust!
The DTV Shredder is the brainchild of Ben Gulak, who is somewhat famous for his Uno Bike design. With the Shredder Gulak conceived a vehicle that would be a “first response modular platform for soldiers.” The device was introduced at the Military Vehicles conference in Detroit this past August.
The DTV lives up to its Shredder moniker as it can travel at speeds in excess of 30mph, and can climb 40-degree slops while carrying a soldier loaded down with a full pack. Additionally, this off-road “skateboard” can be operated remotely. It has a low center of gravity, and according to the designers can be used for a variety of military operations including recon, rescue/recovery, mobile surveillance and medical evacuation operations. Of course we see the potential for it being damn fun too!
