We first heard about Cardo Systems and their BK-1 helmet-mounted communications and entertainment system for cyclists back in March. The system lets cyclists – or anyone – communicate via Bluetooth for up to a 1,600 foot range. That means those conversations on the road can happen even when cyclists are single-file, or not one right behind the other.
Cardo Systems just announced that it would be demoing its BK-1 system at Outdoor Demo and on the show floor at Interbike next week. It will be helpful for friends going on different rides to chat, when they’re in range.
In addition to communications with other riders, the BK-1 can be used as a speaker/microphone for hands-free calls while on the bike. Additional helmet-mounted speakers let riders listen to music without blocking out ambient noise such as road traffic.
Check back all next week for KineticShift’s coverage of Interbike from Las Vegas
