Back in May we first reported on the Copenhagen Parts efforts to introduce its Magnetic Bike Lights, which were aimed at urban bike riders. Of course it was for those with steel bikes – as carbon fiber, titanium and even aluminum framed bikes aren’t magnetic.
But apparently that hasn’t detracted the company, which announced last week that it launched a Kickstarter effort to bring the lights to market.
“We thought long and hard about how we wanted to follow up on the momentum created by the Bike Porter, and decided that a product that nearly every urban bike rider could use was a good path to follow,” said Copenhagen Parts co-founder Mads Kjoeller Damkjaer, The goal this time was to create something cool and convenient, but that doesn’t break the bank either.”
The campaign has funding goal that is set at $50,000, and is looking to use the money as a launching pad for an intense 18-month development phase. The expected retail price will be around $40 (US), and Kickstarter pledgers will find early discounts by backing the project – which is set to run for a 30-day period. There will also be retail-oriented pledge levels for dealers who want to buy start-up packages for their shops.
