Over the past few seasons we’ve seen an increasing emphasis on 29er bikes, mountain bikes with larger wheels. French mountain bike maker Mondraker is now talking about forward geometry as the next evolution for the class of bikes.
Forward geometry uses shorter stem. And when we say shorter stem, we mean the handlebar really just mounts directly to the frame. The geometry is also a bit sharper so that the rider leans forward just a little more.
Mondraker points out a few advantages with the forward technology. When climbing, the front wheel doesn’t bounce up. At the same time, the rear wheel retains traction.
