In urban centers bicycles are unfortunately stolen a lot. And a quality bike lock can protect the bike but only to a degree. Thieves often use tools to steal the expensive components from an unguarded bike, but now we’ve started to hear about British bike component maker Atomic22, which has introduced its infiniti3D system that utilizes a one-of-a-kind key tool that is paired with matched fasteners including bolts, wheel skewers and other parts that require tools.
The idea here is that the infiniti3D fasteners thus require their own unique key – and unlike similar systems that require a unique tool, this is unique to each individual! Atomic22 provides a standard torque key as well as a hyper torque key, plus micro version. A single key will unlock the corresponding fasteners, and this means that if you head to the shop you’ll have to bring your key along.
Client keys are kept on file when ordering, and first time customers will pay around $50 for a key, and prices vary based on the number of component fasteners are required. Made of titanium and other materials, the fasteners also range in price from around $40 to $100, but it is probably worth it for the sense of security these provide.
