There was a rumor that Research in Motion was developing a BlackBerry 10 mobile handset that would be called the “Surfboard,” but the mobile phone maker is actually involved with surfing in a different way. The BlackBerry maker actually held the SurfAid Ball in Sydney, Australia.
This looks like the beginning of an annual fundraiser from the non-profit humanitarian organization with the aim to improve the health, well being and self-reliance of people living in isolated regions. The group is also working to provide clean water programs.
So while we’d still like to see a BlackBerry Surfboard we want to give our kudos to RIM for hitting the waves to help out those in need.
